PROGRAM

The design should be representative of a vibrant community that is purposely designed for a young population mindset. The residents are expected to have linkages to the nearby New York University establishment as professionals and as future residents of Saadiyat Island. Taken in context, the development is responsive and complements the architecture of the existing NYU campus by considering pathways and views between the 2 developments. Given the above considerations, the design fosters community building within the residential development and integration with the neighboring NYU campus. The intention of introducing corridors of convergence is to enhance the sense of community. The open space corridors integral to the overall design character demonstrates the inextricable relationship of these corridors of convergence to the end-users. Externally, connectivity between the two developments – NYU Campus and Residential Development – is accomplished through a thoughtful analysis of visual and physical linkages. By respecting, view corridors of the existing NYU Campus and integrating these into the residential development, a seamless connection becomes more apparent between the two developments. The proposed built form takes cognizance of the neighboring NYU Campus. The building’s angular form fulfills an integrative role as well as functional and environmental roles. By introducing angular forms, the design complements the physical character and form of the campus.
